More than a dozen dogs were removed from a Buckeye home stemming from allegations of neglect and mistreatment.

Detectives with the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office Animal Crimes Unit responded to a home near Pima and Maricopa roads on Tuesday after two dogs were found outside in “poor condition,” detectives said.

According to an MCSO spokesperson, the homeowner, Marva Sturgeon, 65, wouldn’t allow detectives inside the home to check on her other 11 dogs. Detectives returned on Wednesday and allegedly discovered the home was unsuitable for the pets.

All 13 dogs were removed from the home after it was discovered that 11 were living in their own feces, detectives said.

Video released by MCSO of the home shows dirty and cluttered living conditions.

No word as to whether Sturgeon will be charged in connection to the incident.
