Police are on the search for a woman who stole a man's vehicle in Avondale while his 10-year-old son was in the backseat.

The Avondale Police Department was called out to a kidnapping in the 200 block of South 3rd Street shortly after 5 p.m.

Police say the man's 2001 BMW was stolen by a woman named Janela Ivana Enriquez-Arreola, 20. The man said the woman was an acquaintance of his.

The father said his 10-year-old, son who suffers from a serious medical condition, was in the backseat of the vehicle at the time of the incident.

Police were able to locate the BMW near 32nd and Van Buren streets; the boy was inside.

The boy was taken to a hospital for precautionary measures and was reunited with his father at the hospital.

Police are looking for the woman who fled the scene. They say she committed kidnapping, theft of a vehicle and child endangerment.

She's described as being 5 feet, 2 inches tall, weighs about 125 pounds and has brown eyes and brown hair up to her shoulders.

Police encourage anyone who has seen the woman, or knows where she's at, to contact them at (623) 333-7001 or Silent Witness at (480) WITNESS.
