PD: Girl kidnapped in Avondale, suspect still on the loose

AVONDALE, AZ - A 16-year-old was kidnapped on March 31 in Avondale, and police are asking for the public’s help finding the suspect.

The girl was waiting for her school bus at about 6:30 a.m. at 108th Avenue and West Roosevelt Parkway when a man in a two-door red pickup came up to her, according to Sgt. Brandon Busse with the Avondale Police Department.

The man showed a weapon, threatened the girl, and then abducted her, Busse says.

Police got a call from a person saying the victim contacted them April 1 saying she had been kidnapped.

Authorities were able to contact the victim who said she was taken from the bus stop and given something to drink, which made her get light-headed and eventually pass out, according to Busse.

She said she woke up and didn’t know where she was, so she walked to a residential area to get help, Busse says.

The kidnapping suspect is described by police as a white man in his mid 30s, weighing 200 to 250 pounds with a blonde mustache and blonde hair on his arms with light brown or green eyes. He was wearing a gray baseball cap, gray shirt, jeans with paint drops on them and dark brown work boots.

The red pickup is an older model with a gray stripe on the side that ends in a “Z” shape. The bed of the truck had a lawn mower covered with a tan tarp.

Avondale police are encouraging anyone with information to call your local police department or contact them at 623-333-7000.
