A driver is in custody following a Valley-wide pursuit on Sunday afternoon, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.

DPS officials say around 3:45 p.m. a vehicle failed to stop for troopers on eastbound Interstate 10 at milepost 88, near Tonopah.

The vehicle was reportedly described as an "attempt to locate" by a citizen before a trooper tried to stop the car.

Officials say the vehicle continued into the Valley where it was spike-stripped twice, once at the US-60 transition and then another time at Baseline Road on eastbound I-10.

Troopers say the Phoenix Firebird helicopter helped in maintaining a visual of the vehicle during the chase.

The driver finally stopped after the vehicle lost a tire, west of Elliot Road, and was taken into custody without incident.

The driver has been identified as 20-year-old Katherine E. Johnson of Little Rock, Arkansas.

Johnson has been booked into jail on charges of unlawful flight, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, aggravated assault on an officer and driving under the influence of drugs.
