TEMPE, AZ - Tempe Police honored a 13-year-old teen Friday, after he hid inside his room while his home was robbed earlier this week.
Alexis Chavez got to shadow officers all day. He learned about motorcycles, SWAT cars, how to use a siren and even ride a motorcycle.
"Today was pretty fun ‘cause since all that happened it’s nice to take a break,” Chavez said.
Tempe police say two men broke into Chavez’s home through the skylight on Monday.
Chavez hid under a blanket in his room as the burglars ransacked his home.
Shortly after the burglars left, Chavez’s mom came home. She immediately called 911.
During his tour at a Tempe police station, Chavez got to meet the woman who answered the 911 call.
“If anything like this happens again, I’ll be ready,” said Chavez.
