Tempe police search for man grabbing buttocks in stores

TEMPE, AZ - Police are searching for a man who is going up to shoppers and grabbing their buttocks at multiple Tempe stores.

Tempe police spokesman Michael Pooley said three incidents involving the same suspect have been reported at three different Fry's Food Store locations.

The suspect is described as a "Hispanic male, 20 to 29 years old, average height and weight," Pooley said.

In two of the incidents, he was wearing a black T-shirt with a spider on the front, and he was wearing a baseball hat with an "A" in each incident, Pooley said.

The suspect has been seen driving a newer SUV, silver in color.

The three Fry's stores where the incidents occurred were in south Tempe: 3255 S. Rural Road, 5100 S. McClintock and 1835 E. Guadalupe.

Some women we spoke with as they bought groceries said this is a reminder to always be aware of your surroundings.

"I pay a lot of attention to what I hear around me. I always look out of the corner of my eye, and I'm just very vigilant about my surroundings at all time," said Kate Thomas.

Kate says it's easy to get comfortable in public places, but it's important to watch out for yourself.

"You never know who's out there," she said. "No matter where you are, you need to be extra careful."
