Tempe police have added a new horse to the force and want you to give him a name.

Names can be submitted via the Tempe Police Department's social media channels--Twitter, Facebook, Instagram--until April 13.

After that, the department will choose the top three names which will be put to a popular vote. The winning name will be revealed on April 28. If you submit the winning name, you'll be able to meet the horse and take a tour of the stable.

The three-year-old black and white Tobiano paint gelding was donated to Tempe Police in January 2016 by Kelsey and Jeff Cook, of Marana, Arizona., whom also own Dream Horse Arizona ranch.

Police said they had been looking for a horse "with a proper mind and demeanor to be a police horse." Previously, the horse was used for therapeutic riding.

The horse is currently being exposed to different locations and sounds, including loud noises, vehicles and sirens. He will eventually be trained on different vehicle stops, defensive tactics and patrolling Mill Avenue during the day and night.

He is about 15.3 hands tall and about 1,000 pounds.
