Tempe PD: Chad and Tamara Norris arrested in connection with murder of missing man Jason Johnson

TEMPE, AZ - Tempe police arrested a man and woman Thursday in connection with the murder of a man who was reported missing earlier this week.

According to Tempe police Sgt. Jeffrey Glover, the suspects caught were 33-year-old Chad Norris and 31-year-old Tamara Norris.

Their arrests were in connection with the death of 45-year-old Jason Johnson.

Glover said Chad Norris is the co-business owner of Scottsdale Auto Collision Center, which is where Johnson worked.

The report of the missing person first came in Monday, saying Johnson wasn't seen since 6 p.m. Friday.

Johnson was last seen at his workplace, Scottsdale Auto Collision Center, at a location near Priest and Elliot drives in Tempe, said Glover.

Detectives discovered while questioning coworkers that there was a confrontation between Johnson and Chad Norris, said Glover.

Tempe detectives then reportedly conducted surveillance on Chad Norris based on evidence that he was involved in Johnson's disappearance.

Chad and Tamara Norris were both contacted but did not cooperate with police.

Glover said Chad and Tamara Norris were seen leaving their home with a box trailer attached to their SUV.

They then drove out to an area in Phoenix where they abandoned the trailer, according to Glover.

Detectives obtained a search warrant and saw that the trailer appeared to be a homicide scene, he said.

Blood was in the trailer, along with spent shell casings and a wallet with Johnson's Arizona driver's license inside.

Detectives said they believe Johnson was killed and his body is hidden somewhere unknown.

Chad Norris was arrested for second degree murder, and Tamara Norris was arrested for felony hindering.

Police are encouraging the public to contact them if they know anything about Johnson's whereabouts at 480-350-8311 or Silent Witness at 480-948-6377.
