Suspect dies in Tempe police shooting

TEMPE, AZ - Authorities say a man has died after being shot and wounded by Tempe police officers Wednesday.

The shooting occurred around 3:30 p.m. at a home near Price Road and Southern Avenue.

Tempe police spokeswoman Molly Enright said detectives from from the Special Investigations/Narcotics Unit were serving a search warrant at the house when a suspect with a rifle came out toward officers.

Officers fired at the suspect who was treated by Tempe firefighters and transported to a hospital where he later died. 

No officers were injured in the incident.

A perimeter was set up around the scene for several hours, but Enright said Wednesday evening there were no suspects outstanding related to the incident.
