TEMPE, AZ - Tempe police say a man who'd been missing since Wednesday evening has returned home safe.
Police said 79-year-old Gerald Whiticker drove away from his home near 48th Street and Southern Avenue around 6 p.m. and didn't return.
Police said he hadn't left home before without letting his wife know where he is, which raised the level of concern.
Detectives confirmed Whiticker was seen at around 11 a.m. on Thursday fueling his car at a Fry's gas station at Southern Avenue and Rural Road in Tempe.
While Whiticker doesn't have a documented medical history of dementia, earlier this month he did become lost and was helped home to Tempe by a west Valley police agency.
Police didn't have a reason to suspect foul play, but they are concerned for his safety.
Police said he returned home Friday morning.
Police did not elaborate as to where Whiticker had been or on his condition.
