TEMPE, AZ - A Tempe teen is behind bars after allegedly assaulting two police officers early Sunday morning.
According to a police report, at around 2:20 a.m., a Tempe police officer was called to assist a Gilbert officer with a criminal damage call at a McDonalds near Rural Road and Apache Boulevard.
The report states the Gilbert officer identified Anthony Sheppard, 19, as the criminal damage suspect.
When officers approached Sheppard, they noticed he was visibly intoxicated, had bloodshot watery eyes, slurred speech and the smell of alcohol on his breath and body.
According to the report, the officers told Sheppard he was under arrest at which time he swung at one of the officers and punched the other in the face.
The report said one of the officers had to use a stun gun to get Sheppard under control.
Sheppard was taken to a Tempe hospital to be treated for minor injuries. When he was released, he was booked into Tempe City Jail.
Sheppard is facing two counts of aggravated assault on a police officer, two counts of resisting arrest, and one count of a minor in consumption of alcohol.
