PD: Tempe dispensary busted for illegal activity, posed as 'compassion club'

TEMPE, AZ - Three people are in custody after police busted an illegal marijuana dispensary Tuesday in Tempe, according to officials.

The suspects are being charged with possession of marijuana for sale, according to police.

Police apprehended the suspects just after 4 p.m. at the Delta 9 Dispensary off Broadway Road and Priest Drive.

Nearby store owners had been complaining for the past few weeks about an odor and possible illegal activity in the store, officials say.

Crime prevention officers showed up and found large quantities of weed for sale inside.

The business was fronting as a “compassion club,” where people can access the drug in return for donations, according to police.

Police will also serve a warrant on the business itself, officials say.
