PD: Man rescued by neighbor after falling into Tempe canal

TEMPE, AZ - Police are looking into whether alcohol and drugs were factors after a man was pulled from a Tempe canal Saturday night.

Tempe police Sgt. Mike Pooley said the man was expected to be OK after he was pulled out of the water by a neighbor who heard the man yelling for help.

The incident happened near Guadalupe Road and McClintock Drive.

Pooley said it looks like alcohol and possibly drugs were factors in the incident.

As he was taken away in an ambulance the man was heard to say he fell into the water.
