A woman has been arrested after she admitted to abusing her children while intoxicated in Tempe.

Casha Cotton, 23, admitted to using a leather belt and a closed fist to spank and hit her 4-year-old and 5-year-old sons on July 21.

According to court paperwork, the abuse was discovered when Cotton dropped off her children at a babysitter’s house on July 24. The sitter noticed bruises and welts on the two children.

The Tempe mother admitted to hitting each child three to four times while she was heavily intoxicated. She told police she hit her children because they broke a window.

The children were removed from her custody by the State of Arizona on July 24.

Cotton was arrested for two counts of child abuse.
