MESA, AZ - A 22-year-old Mesa man is behind bars after police say he sent explicit pictures of himself to a 16-year-old girl.
Tempe police spokesman Michael Pooley said Joshua Vehmeier was arrested Wednesday on two counts of sexual exploitation of a minor and four counts of furnishing harmful items to a minor.
Pooley said in February, Vehmeier contacted 16-year-old Katylynn Meyers who posted an ad on Craigslist offering babysitting services. During the exchange of e-mails, Vehmeier sent an explicit photo of himself to Meyers.
ABC15 first told you about the story on Tuesday, after the girl's mother was upset because police originally let Vehmeier go saying they didn't have enough evidence to arrest him.
Police pursued the case further and Vehmeier was arrested for sending an explicit image to a minor. During a search warrant of Vehmeier's home, detectives also found him in possession of child pornography.
Pooley said Vehmeier was booked into the County Jail.
