GUADALUPE, AZ - Authorities say they arrested a 10-year-old boy in Guadalupe for plans to stab another student for "snitching."
The 5th grade student at Frank Elementary was found Tuesday with a knife in his backpack, said Sgt. Brandon Jones with the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office.
The boy admitted to detectives that he took the knife to school with intentions of stabbing a student in the stomach, Jones said.
He tried to recruit others to help, and that's when the other students reportedly told teachers.
"It is such an elaborate scheme from a 5th grader" said Alex Figeuroa who is an uncle to a girl at Frank Elementary School. "I'm just glad he only had access to a knife and not something else."
The boy also told detectives that he was planning to wear a black knit beanie over his face to disguise himself, Jones said.
The beanie was found wrapped around the knife in his backpack.
He was booked in Maricopa County Juvenile Detention on charges of threatening and intimidating, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and disruption of an educational facility.
