TEMPE, AZ - New details have been released after a man was shot in the parking lot of a Tempe business Thursday morning.
Joseph P. Palmisano, 48, is facing charges of second-degree murder and kidnapping after he allegedly shot the ex-boyfriend of a woman he is dating.
The incident happened around 8:40 a.m. at an office complex near Baseline and Rural roads.
The victim, 25-year-old Ryan Hall, was sitting in his vehicle when Palmisano approached him holding a .357 handgun and ordered him out of the car, according to court documents.
Hall grabbed the barrel of the gun and tried to duck out of the way but Palmisano fired a shot, striking the victim in the back.
Hall reportedly recorded the incident on his cell phone which police recovered at the scene.
After the shooting Palmisano stood over Hall saying something like, "Do you feel that … that's you dying boy," according to the documents.
Palmisano was seen by witnesses in nearby offices as he walked into his office, holding the gun.
Palmisano was taken into custody without incident and interviewed by Tempe police.
During the interview, Palmisano admitted that he drove to the office complex with a loaded gun to confront Hall, who he knew would be there to meet his ex-girlfriend with whom he has a child.
The ex-girlfriend works for Palmisano, who is a criminal defense attorney, according to Tempe police, and they have been dating for approximately six months.
Palmisano told police he believed Hall was hacking his personal computer and business computers as well as tapping his telephones.
Palmisano admitted to pointing the gun at Hall as he sat in the driver's seat of his vehicle and ordering him out of the car.
When Hall would not get out of the car, Palmisano said he shot him, according to the documents.
Hall was taken to a Valley hospital with a gunshot wound to the back.
Palmisano was booked into the Tempe City Jail.
