The City of Tempe and American Association of University Women will hold a workshop Wednesday night on negotiating pay and benefits as part of the city's efforts to close the gender gap.

"One of the things that you should walk away with is knowing how to articulate your value to employers," said Hannah Moulton Belec, who leads the workshop.

"What are your accomplishments? How can you quantify them? How can you relate them directly to the job that you're trying to get?"

Recent numbers from the Bureau of Labor Statistics show, on average, women in Arizona earn nearly 14 percent less than men -- a more than $6,000 difference.

The workshop is open to anyone who lives, works or studies in Tempe.

It will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the Pyle Adult Recreation Center, located at 655 E. Southern Avenue. Registration is required.
