TEMPE, AZ - Saturday is a very special sort of game day and that was obvious when you felt the energy from the fans outside Sun Devil stadium in Tempe.
There were a lot of excited fans, many of them tailgating before the big game pitting ASU against Stanford for the right to attend the Rose Bowl.
And people knew exactly how to do it right, many with RVs, some with a full buffet set up.
It's been colder than usual so people were staying warm with comfort food, like chili.
One family saw ASU go to the Rose Bowl in 1987 and 1997, and they're hoping to be the good luck charm and see it again.
ASU fans Marianne and Fred Lescher believe the team will have a great game tonight.
"I think all the people are really behind it, I mean look at all the people that are lining up. It's a sell out – Pac-12 Championship. Everything leads to the Rose Bowl."
Different from last week's Territorial Cup game against the UofA Wildcats, the environment feels a little different this week.
Maybe it's because there's so much riding on tonight's game that these fans area a little more nervous and being very cautious before celebrating too early.
