Maikil Doud Schol may face murder charges after wrong-way crash kills 2 on motorcycle

TEMPE, AZ - A man has been booked into jail following a wrong-way crash in Phoenix Saturday.

The Department of Public Safety says Maikil Doud Schol was booked into jail on charges of second-degree homicide.

DPS says the 29-year-old from Sudan was believed to be impaired by alcohol while driving westbound in the eastbound lanes of the Loop 202 near Priest Drive around 2:30 a.m.

Officials say Schol hit a motorcycle head-on, killing both riders.

They have been identified as Andy Chilimidos, 50, and Darlene Atencio, 45, both from St. Johns, Arizona.

The eastbound lanes of the Loop 202 were closed for several hours for the investigation.

DPS says a blood sample taken from Schol has been submitted to their lab and the results are pending.
