Police documents are giving more insight into an attack on an Arizona State University student by the man also suspected of killing a Valley teacher.
According to police documents, a 17-year-old ASU student let 27-year-old Charlie Malzahn into her dorm room for a bottle of water on October 8.
The victim reportedly gave him the bottle and asked him to leave repeatedly, but he refused and angrily punched her in the face multiple times. The victim screamed and he "threw her to the ground and covered her mouth with his hand."
Police spoke with Malzahn at the 4th Avenue jail where he was being held. He told them he was on meth at the time of the attack and had been awake for three days, documents say.
Malzahn also admitted to entering the victim's dorm room and punching her several times. He reportedly didn't remember what happened after the assault.
Malzahn has spent half of his adult life behind bars. His most recent stint in the Coconino County jail was from August until earlier this month when he was bonded out by Cathryn Gorospe.
Gorospe was reported missing and remains police "firmly believe" to belong to her were later found in an area in Mayer. Police ruled the death a homicide.
Malzahn is considered a suspect in the homicide case and was believed to be in a romantic relationship with Gorospe.
