TEMPE, AZ - Spring Training is in full swing in the Valley! Players reported last week and the first Cactus League games start on Friday.
The games attract baseball fans from all over the country, and are steeped in tradition.
This tradition is why, in 2008, "Play Ball, The Cactus League Experience" was created. The hope is to preserve the history of Spring Training in Arizona, so it has a long future in our state.
Several exhibitions around the Valley showcase a variety of Cactus League baseball memorabilia dating all the way back to 1947 when the league was created.
"Play Ball" board members hope the unique pieces will remind people of how important Spring Training is to our state so that it is preserved for many more years to come.
There are four exhibits around the Valley -- in Mesa, Scottsdale, Goodyear, and Tempe.
