TEMPE, AZ - With temperatures reaching 100 degrees and above in parts of the Valley, what better way to spend the day than at the pool?
Hundreds of people filled up Big Surf Water Park in Tempe on Saturday as it celebrates its 45th year.
People we talked to said they’ve known the first 100-degree day was coming and they were glad they were in the right place to enjoy it.
Sun worshipers and swimmers alike were taking precautions in the heat, passing around the sunscreen and drinking plenty of water. Some even took to the shade as much as possible.
One woman from New Mexico told us she didn’t expect it to be so hot today.
“In our town it’s 60 degrees, it’s pretty chilly,” explained Jamie Gonzalez. “We get up every morning so we have to bundle up in jackets and stuff. Then we come over here and we had to buy ‘warm’ clothes.”
On Sunday it’s expected to return to the 100-degree mark again.
