Big changes for ASU tailgaters this year

TEMPE, AZ - There are some big changes for tailgaters at ASU this year.

Students and fans packed the Sun Devils Stadium for the season opener football game against Weber State Thursday night.

Kegs, beer bongs and drinking games are now banned during tailgating.

ASU says these new restrictions are in line with Northern Arizona and the University of Arizona's policies.

They say Tempe Police will be enforcing the new measures.

Tailgaters we spoke with hadn't heard of the new rules.

Some said it won't change much.

“You’re still going to drink and have fun, that doesn’t change anything,” said Seth Wells.

“As responsible tailgaters, we’ll still have fun regardless of the rules and have a great time at Sun Devils Stadium,” said Noah Fife.

Officials say safety is their biggest concern.

They want fans to have fun, but drink responsibly.
