TEMPE, AZ - Police on Sunday arrested an Arizona State University football player on two counts of sexual assault and one count of domestic violence.
Tempe police Sgt. Michael Pooley said 22-year-old Andres Rafael Garcia and a female acquaintance were involved in a verbal argument on Friday that escalated when Garcia shoved the victim into a wall, leaving her unconscious.
After gaining consciousness, the 21-year-old was transported by Garcia and several friends to her home, where Garcia is accused of sexually assaulting her, Pooley said.
Garcia was taken into custody and booked into Tempe City Jail.
Garcia played with the Sun Devils for only one season. He has since been dismissed from the team.
