Arizona State University adds large solar feature to Tempe campus

TEMPE, AZ - Arizona State University has been busy adding environmentally friendly additions to its Tempe campus.

One of the "green" improvements includes a large solar-powered covering that provides both shade and lighting at night for one of the common areas on campus.

The project reportedly produces green energy, has security features and has LED lights for nighttime lighting.

Bob Boscamp, president of Power Parasol said the features add to land value and make for a more people-friendly area on campus.

Before the large shade project was put in place, the area was a hot, sunny, paved area that was too hot to sit in during the day.

ASU has been recognized for its green projects in years prior and continues to add eco-friendly features to campuses around the Valley.

The college was also recently recognized for it's Health Services Building for its architecture and sustainability traits.
