TEMPE, AZ - A vigil was held Sunday evening for a woman who was reported missing from her Tempe home a year ago, on Sunday, June 16.
Sunday’s vigil for Adrienne Salinas was held at 6 p.m. at Jaycee Park in Tempe.
Salinas, 19, was reported missing by her father and her wrecked and abandoned car was found soon after.
Salinas’s remains were found on August 6, 2013 near Highway 88 and Lost Dutchman’s Boulevard in Apache Junction.
Tempe police canvassed the Tempe neighborhood where Salinas lived, searched along Tempe Town Lake and the Apache Junction neighborhood and surrounding desert washes near where the victim’s body was found.
Tempe police were assisted by other agencies, including the FBI’s Violent Crime Squad, Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, Phoenix Police Department and Apache Junction Police Department.
According to Tempe police, the case team has conducted over 500 interviews investigated hundreds of leads and continues to investigate in the pursuit of justice for Salinas.
Detectives have remained in close contact with Salinas’s family over the past year and say that this investigation remains open and active.
