A San Tan Valley man was arrested Sunday after fleeing from Pinal County Sheriff's deputies in two separate pursuits.

Spokesman Mark Clark said a deputy spotted Sergio Fabian Hernandez driving his motorcycle on Desert Willow Road around 4 p.m. on Wednesday. Recognizing that Hernandez was wanted on outstanding warrants, the deputy attempted to stop him.

Hernandez, riding with a female passenger, fled at a high rate of speed through the neighborhood, driving through yards and nearly hitting a homeowner.

Sheriff Paul Babeu said the deputy disengaged the pursuit because Hernandez was driving so recklessly and endangering the public.

On Sunday, PCSO got a tip that Hernandez was at a Florence home.

When Hernandez spotted responding deputies, he again sped off, leading crews on a second pursuit in just five days.

Babeu said Hernandez avoided stop sticks deployed to disable his vehicle, and even drove his SUV across a golf course where golfers had to flee to avoid being struck.

A short time later, Hernandez crashed his vehicle into a canal embankment and fled on foot.

Deputies tackled him and took him in to custody.

Clark said Hernandez is facing multiple charges of aggravated assault, endangerment, criminal damage, and numerous traffic violations.
