Crews save cat after Queen Creek fire

QUEEN CREEK, AZ - A cat was rescued by firefighters after a fire broke out at a Queen Creek home Friday morning.

Rural Metro fire spokesman Colin Williams said the first crews on the scene found a lot of heavy smoke coming from the garage area of the home near Gantzel and Combs.

Firefighters were able to put the fire out, but there is a lot of smoke damage to the garage area, Williams said.

He was unsure if anyone was home at the time of the fire, however crews did pull a cat from the home.

At first they thought the animal was dead but did resuscitation on it and were able to revive the cat.

There was no immediate word on what caused the fire.
