Clerk uses stun gun against robbery suspect in San Tan Valley

SAN TAN VALLEY, AZ - A couple of beer thieves got quite a surprise when a San Tan Valley store clerk went after them as they tried to flee the store.

According to Pinal County Sheriff's Office spokesman Tim Gaffney, the attempted robbery happened Saturday night around 7:30 p.m. at the Skyline Market located in San Tan Valley.

Gaffney said Celerino Inguez Mendoza Jr.,13, and Humberto Sanchez, 18, walked into the store, grabbed two 18-packs of Bud Light beer and tried to leave without paying.

When the clerk tried to stop them, Mendoza fled on foot. Sanchez attempted to follow, but was caught by the clerk.

Mendoza and the clerk got into a fight and during the struggle, the clerk used a stun gun to try and restrain Mendoza.

When police arrived on scene, Mendoza was booked into the Pinal County Juvenile Detention Center for one count of aggravated robbery. Gaffney said he also has a prior arrest for a burglary offense.

Deputies and detectives are still searching for Humberto Sanchez. If anybody has any information regarding his whereabouts, they are asked to contact the Pinal County Sheriff's Office at 520-866-5111.

Sanchez has prior arrests for burglary, theft, disorderly conduct, and assault.
