Students practice real medical scenarios in Mesa

MESA, AZ - A group of excelling high school seniors had a memorable experience Friday when they took part in hands-on medical scenarios in the Valley.

The students from Phoenix Bioscience High School were able to practice real scenarios at Banner Simulation Medical Center in Mesa on life-like mannequins.

The scenarios included bleeding, cardiac and respiratory arrests.

"It's a risk free environment. Make your mistakes here, so you don't make them in the hospital with live patients," said Terry Chavez, senior manager of Banner Health Simulation.

The Banner Simulation Medical Center is a fully-equipped, 55-bed virtual hospital complete with Intensive Care, Emergency and Pediatric Units.

The Simulation Center is used as a training facility for new hires for Banner Health.
