Rapper DMX, also known as Earl Simmons, arrested again in Valley

MESA, AZ - Earl Simmons, otherwise known as DMX, has been arrested again in the Valley.

Simmons was taken into custody on Wednesday at US 60 and Power Road, according to a spokesperson with Arizona Department of Public Safety.

An officer clocked Mr. Simmons on his radar driving 102 miles per hour, said DPS.

Another vehicle was following Mr. Simmons, and both were stopped by the officer.

A check showed Mr. Simmons license was suspended and revoked.  He was arrested, booked and cited for criminal speeding, driving on a suspended and revoked license and reckless driving.

DPS said the vehicle Mr. Simmons was driving, a Chrysler 300, was turned over to his passenger, who is the registered owner of the vehicle.

The other driver, Julio Martinez, was cited for criminal speeding and released.

In 2007, he was indicted on felony drug possession and misdemeanor animal cruelty charges following a raid at his Cave Creek home. During the raid, a SWAT team with the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office seized a dozen distressed pit bull dogs and dug up the remains of three other dogs on his property. Authorities also found marijuana and weapons in the rapper's home.

The rapper has had previous run-ins with the law too. In 2006, Scottsdale police cited DMX for carrying a concealed handgun outside a nightclub.

He also served 70 days in jail in 2005 for a parole violation following a 2004 incident in which he reportedly crashed his sports utility vehicle through a security gate at Kennedy International Airport.
