Rain hits hard in east Valley Wednesday morning

MESA, AZ - Areas around Stapley Drive and Southern Avenue in Mesa are slowly drying out after heavy early morning rains.
Rain hit hard around 6 a.m. in the area, flooding some streets.
Emerald Park flooded from spill off from the roadways. The water is so high that you can't even see the top of picnic tables and garbage cans are 80 percent under water.
Residents around the park report heavy rain and minor flooding in parking lots and streets. Some residents said there is a lot of debris but no significant damage.
At Holmes Elementary School crews began removing several big trees that toppled Tuesday evening. The trees missed hitting the building and classes were not disrupted.
