MESA, AZ - Mesa police say they found a small marijuana grow operation at the scene of a murder that occurred early Friday morning
As of this afternoon, detectives were still at the home near Lindsay Road and Southern Avenue.
According to Mesa police Sgt. Tony Landato, police received a 911 call from the house at 12:30 a.m. The call was an open line with no one talking and no sounds.
Police responded to the scene and found one person who was critically injured. Police say that person, identified later as 22-year-old Nelson Baker, died at the scene.
Police did not say if Baker was a resident at the home.
There were two other people at the scene. One is suffering from non-life threatening injuries and another person ran off but returned later. That individual is now being questioned.
Landato said police seized several marijuana plants from the residence. He said while that was one possible motive for the robbery or home invasion he could not confirm that.
Landato said there were three to four suspects who drove off in a black passenger car.
