Police departments in the Valley take the ice challenge to raise money

MESA, AZ - The ice water challenge has been popular lately and several members of the police force around the Valley have taken their turns.

The challenge originated as a dare to dump cold water on your body in order to get out of paying money to a charity.

One version of the challenge says to donate $20 to charity if you dump icy water over your body or jump in an icy pool, but if you aren't brave enough, you have to pay $100.

Phoenix Police Sgt. Steve Martos was among the officers who took the plunge.

Mesa Police decided to take the plunge to a whole new level- They incorporated a water slide!

With a camera attached to him and another to catch the aftermath, Mesa Police Chief Frank Milstead took to the slide to raise money for the 100 Club of Arizona.
