MESA, AZ - Passengers got quite a scare Sunday when a "suspicious object" was found at Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport.
Police spokesman Tony Landato said the object was found around 2:45 p.m. while a piece of luggage was being scanned for an Allegiant flight.
The Mesa Police Department Bomb Squad responded and initially thought the object was a grenade, but it ended up being a grenade souvenir.
Landato said airport operations were delayed for about an hour, but are now back to normal.
Officials said the couple who own the souvenir may face a possible fine from the Transportation Security Administration.
