MESA, AZ - A former Mesa High School student is in custody after attacking four ROTC students Wednesday morning.
Police spokesman Tony Landato said around 6:40 a.m., 25-year-old Ceaser Ruben Meraz walked onto campus and started a fight with the teens.
Students told a school resource officer what happened and he was able to locate Meraz off campus.
According to the school officer, Meraz admitted he attacked the students saying he "felt like getting into a fight."
The officer cited Meraz for the altercation and sent him home.
Landato said when the officer's supervisor found out Meraz was cited and released, he immediately ordered that Meraz be picked up and booked on charges.
Meraz was taken back into custody around 5:30 p.m. and booked on four counts of misdemeanor assault, one count of disrupting an educational institution, one count of disorderly conduct, one count of criminal trespass, one count of aggravated assault on a Peace Officer, and one count of aggravated assault on a Detention Officer.
Landato said Meraz was not armed with any weapons and the injuries to the students were not severe.
