Authorities in the Bahamas have confirmed that two Arizonans were aboard the flight that crashed Sunday about 7 miles from Grand Bahama Island. Officer Steven Deen identified two of the four victims as Glen and Leslie Steiner of Mesa, Ariz.
Our Scripps sister station WRTV reports that the pilot of the Cirrus SR-22, identified as Tony Wishart, experienced engine problems shortly after take-off, according to authorities. The plane crashed into the water around 11 a.m.
The flight was supposed to be a sightseeing trip, reports the Associated Press, which included stops in Florida and Hilton Head Island in South Carolina.
The plane was equipped with a parachute, reports WRTV, however it was unclear if it was deployed. The other two victims aboard the plane were not identified by authorities.
