MESA, AZ - Police say a 79-year-old bicyclist was killed in East Mesa late Tuesday morning.
According to a Mesa police report, a Toyota Tacoma was westbound on a private road near Main and 48th streets when the man on the bike failed to yield at the intersection.
The bicyclist was not wearing a helmet and suffered life-threatening injuries, authorities said.
The man was taken to a Scottsdale hospital in critical condition and died from his injuries several hours later.
Police did not release the names of either the driver or bicyclist.
