MESA, AZ - Police say a 17-year-old boy is in very serious but stable condition after being shot Tuesday night in Mesa.
Authorities said the shooting happened around 7:45 p.m. at an apartment complex near Southern Avenue and Stapley Drive.
Mesa police spokesman Sgt. Tony Landato said witnesses told police they saw two men running away from the victim's home.
Landato said the victim was able get to another apartment and knock on a door for help.
Authorities said the victim was taken to the hospital where he underwent surgery Tuesday night.
Landato said a weapon used in the incident may have been recovered, but police will need to run tests.
