MESA, AZ - A Valley woman has quite a story to tell after giving birth in a Mesa parking lot on Wednesday.
Ariana Critzer, 25, said she'd started to have contractions around 11 p.m. on Tuesday and headed to the hospital.
After she was there several hours, doctors told her she wasn't ready and sent her and her husband, Ryan, home.
The couple went to pick up their two other children at their grandparents' home and went home.
But less than an hour later, Ariana said things changed.
"After about 45 minutes of me screaming and crawling all over the floor... I was finally 'We have to go, we have to go now, we need to go back to the hospital,'" she said.
They headed back to the grandparents' house to drop off the two older children, but no one answered the door.
So, with the kids in the back of the minivan, Ariana and Ryan headed back to the hospital.
But near Country Club Drive and 5th Place, Ariana told Ryan to stop the van because the baby was coming.
Ryan said he started to call 911, but threw the cellphone on the dashboard when he saw the baby's head coming out.
It took just a couple more pushes and baby Roxy came out around 6:30 a.m.
Ariana put the newborn on her chest, wrapping her in the only clean item she had, her pants.
Ryan then called 911 and asked for help.
Mom and her new daughter are doing fine.
