Mesa twins give up birthday presents, raise money for fallen Officer Brandon Mendoza

MESA, AZ - Two twins out of Mesa have captured the hearts of Valley police after raising money for the family of fallen officer Brandon Mendoza.

In a truly unselfish act, Sydney and Addison, the daughters of a Mesa police lieutenant, asked for donations instead of presents for their birthday.

According to the Mesa Police Department, the girls raised $265 for the 100 Club of Arizona.

The girls sent letters to the family of Officer Mendoza, expressing sympathy for their loss and explaining how they raised money to help.

Officer Mendoza was killed by a wrong-way driver in May of this year.

"My mom is a police officer so we thought we could help other police officers," said Addison in her letter.

On Tuesday, The 100 Club posted on their Facebook page, "Thank you Sydney and Addison for the kindness and love you shared with us and Mesa Police. You girls are an example of true compassion."

Tamra Ingersoll, with the 100 Club, says they have a special thank you card in the works for the girls.
