MESA, AZ - A man is in custody after leading police on a brief high-speed chase before barricading himself inside his vehicle Monday morning in Mesa.
The suspect was taken into police custody after authorities appeared to shoot tear gas into his vehicle, which was located behind a building near the US 60 and Horne. Authorities found a shotgun and a hand gun in the vehicle.
Jesse Sanger, spokesman for the Gilbert Police Department, identified the suspect as 25-year-old as Brandon Gonzaga.
Authorities said the suspect had allegedly threatened to hurt his girlfriend and himself over the weekend, the suspect's brother reportedly told police.
Police said Gonzaga showed up to Banner Gateway Medical Center twice, which is where his girlfriend works, but authorities were unable to bring him into custody.
Gilbert police located him Monday morning and that started the pursuit.
Air15 video showed multiple police officers in tactical gear surrounding the building, including three officers stationed on top of the building.
