A Mesa man is behind bars after investigators linked him to child pornography online.

On July 1, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children forwarded a cyber tip to Maricopa County Sheriff's Office regarding online posts containing child porn.

Investigators looked into the user who posted it, linking it to an IP address and internet customer living near 64th and Main streets.

A search warrant was executed at an apartment and officers made contact with 39-year-old Jonathan Hilton.

Hilton admitted to downloading and posting child pornography because he was "being stupid and going with the crowd," according to police reports.

He told police that Yahoo users would send the images and videos to him unsolicited. He downloaded them and had them on a flash drive that investigators also located.

Hilton was booked into jail on 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor.
