Mesa light rail service back on shedule after crash

MESA, AZ - Light rail service near Mesa was suspended following a single-vehicle accident on the light rail tracks Sunday afternoon.

According to Mesa Police Department, a truck hit and became wrapped around a power pole on top of the light rail tracks near Dobson Road and Main Street.

Valley Metro reported that light rail service was suspended between Sycamore and Price/Apache due to the accident. Buses were used to transport passengers in both directions.

There were originally 20-minute delays, but Valley Metro said on Twitter around 2:30 p.m. that both tracks had reopened and service was back to normal.

The driver of the truck, a woman, was transported to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

No other information has been released.
