MESA, AZ - The Ebola crisis in West Africa has only strengthened the desire for one Valley woman to get back to Liberia and help.
Alberta Leahy of Mesa travels the globe on a Mercy Ship - it’s almost like a floating hospital.
“I live on a ship with 400 other people from all over the world with one goal,” said Leahy. “To bring hope and healing to the forgotten poor.”
Although they’ve sailed to Liberia several times, the Ebola virus is currently keeping them away.
Due to recommendations from the U.S Center for Disease Control, the Mercy Ship’s crew is banned from traveling to Guinea, Sierra Leone, Liberia, and Nigeria.
