Jose Luis Gonzalez-Dominguez found guilty in 4-year-old girl's 2011 death

MESA, AZ - A man has been convicted of first-degree murder related to the 2011 death of a 4-year-old girl , according to a court spokeswoman.

Kelly Vail, spokesman for the Maricopa County Superior Court, said a jury found Jose Luis Gonzalez-Dominguez guilty of first degree murder and five counts of child abuse Thursday.

Anays "Annie" Carimbocas, 4, was found "lifeless lying on the bathroom sink" on May 14, 2011 in her mother's apartment, officials said. The mother had called 911 because her daughter was having difficulty breathing.

The Maricopa County Medical Examiner's Office said the girl's death was due to blunt force trauma.

The 4-year-old was taken to a hospital where she was declared dead.

The girl's mother, Crystal Carimbocas, was convicted of first-degree murder and 2 counts of child abuse on Wednesday, Aug. 13. She is scheduled to be sentenced on Sept. 18, 2014.

The aggravation phase for Gonzalez-Dominguez is scheduled for Aug. 19, 2014.
