MESA, AZ - Seven people have been temporarily displaced from their Mesa home after a fire broke out Wednesday morning.
Mesa Fire Department spokesman Forrest Smith said crews were called to the split level home near Higley Road and University Drive around 4 a.m. where they were confronted by low visibility as they worked to make sure everyone was out of the home and to find the source of the fire.
Smith said the fire started in the lower level of the home.
A family member alerted the rest of the residents to the fire. Smith said there were working smoke detectors in the home.
Investigators are looking into what caused the fire.
Smith said the home is not a loss, but utilities had to be disconnected for safety purposes.
The four adults and three teens do have a place to stay in the meantime.
No one was injured, according to Smith.
