Funeral services announced for fallen Mesa Officer Brandon Mendoza

MESA, AZ - Funeral services for Officer Brandon Mendoza, who died after he was hit by a wrong-way driver , will take place Friday in Mesa, officials said.

Mendoza was driving home Monday night after his shift with the Mesa Police Department when he was struck by a motorist. Scroll below for list of planned road closures.

Mendoza was remembered by friends and family as a driving force in the community working to clean up a Mesa park and volunteering at the Boys and Girls Club in Mesa .

Visitation was held Thursday at the All Saints Catholic Church near Recker and McLellan road from 6 - 8 p.m. The address is 1534 N. Recker Road in Mesa.

The funeral service will take place on Friday at All Saints Catholic Church starting at 10 a.m. The internment will immediately follow the service and will be held at Queen of Heaven Cemetery located at Baseline and Gilbert roads.

There will be a procession to the cemetery following the funeral service.

  • WB traffic will detour NB – SB onto Recker
  • EB  traffic will detour NB onto 59th Street

10:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon (approx.)

  • SB traffic will detour EB onto Mclellan

10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. (approx.)

  • WB Baseline to Stapley
  • WB traffic will detour NB – SB onto Gilbert Rd.

10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. (approx.)

  • Harris – Baseline to Juanita
