MESA, AZ - Children born with heart defects or develop heart conditions early in life have some help coming their way thanks to a fundraiser set to include some well known celebrities in Scottsdale this weekend.
The Advisory Council of Cardon Children's Medical Center and Banner Health Foundation are hosting a large fundraiser, " Stars of the Season ", in an effort to help children in need.
Proceeds from the event benefit the Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgery Program at Cardon Children's Medical Center .
According to event organizers, congenital heart defects are abnormalities in the heart's structure. According to information from the event's website, approximately 8 out of every 1,000 newborns have congenital heart defects which can range from mild to severe.
Valley resident and well known musician, Chester Bennington from Linkin Park will perform as well as Dave Navarro from Jane's Addiction and Red Hot Chili Peppers.
The money will help the surgery program and a team of specialists provide top care to children in need.
According to organizers, the team of specialists include pediatric cardiologists, heart surgeons, cardiac anesthesiologists, nurses, assistants, and many others who also specialize in the intensive care of children with heart disease.
The donations will help launch the Cardiothoracic Surgery Program at Cardon's to help children of all ages according to event organizers.
The event is set to take place Saturday, October 27 at the Montelucia Resort in Scottsdale.
